Rhys H. Williams (sociologist)
Rhys H. Williams is Professor of Sociology and Chair of the Department of Sociology at Loyola University Chicago. He is also Director of the McNamara Center for the Social Study of Religion. His research interests span the fields of sociology, religious studies and political science. He was, until 2008, editor of the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, and is the 2009-10 President of the Association for the Sociology of Religion. From 1989 to 2001 he taught at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and from 2001 until 2009 at the University of Cincinnati. He received his undergraduate degree (1979) from the University of New Mexico and his master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Massachusetts.
